CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. Cowlitz County CASA is a 501(3)(c) non-profit corporation tasked with being the voice for abused and neglected children in the dependency court system. Every dependent child is assigned a CASA through the Cowlitz County CASA program--no child is turned away. A CASA reports to the court the results of an independent investigation as to those things that would be in the best interest of the child. CASA’s focus is the child--recommendations are made with the child’s well-being in mind. A CASA will also speak for the child in court--be the voice of the child in a system that is difficult to navigate for adults let alone our most vulnerable citizens--the children.

CASA receives the majority of its funding from local individuals and businesses.
