Becoming A CASA...
CASA volunteers are committed to
finding out what is in the best interests of a child, and making their
recommendation to the judge in court.
As a CASA volunteer, you will be
able to work with confidence. All our volunteers are thoroughly trained in
courtroom procedure, social services, the juvenile justice system, and the
special needs of abused and neglected children.
Volunteer advocates are appointed by a judge to thoroughly investigate a neglected or abused child's world, talking with everyone who is an important part of that child's life.
The volunteer then speaks for the child's best interests in court. Throughout the process, the CASA volunteer monitors the child's situation to help make sure that all the child's needs are met.
The vision of the Cowlitz County CASA Program is to ensure that every child has a safe, supportive, and permanent home.
We welcome volunteers from all
cultures, professions, and ethnic and educational backgrounds. We have a
particular need for men and people of color.
